How California jobs actually run
Utility territory matters here more than most owners expect: PG&E, Southern California Edison, SMUD, LADWP each have their own disconnect and metering process, and the sequence of who de-energizes what is usually the longest lead item on the schedule.
Freight is the other half. We route California work along I-5, I-80, I-10, US-101 and the 405, which is what keeps trailer and crew cost predictable on a quote instead of padded.
Title 24 upgrades, refinery turnarounds in the Bay Area and Los Angeles basin, and aggressive PCB and oil handling rules under DTSC make California removals documentation-heavy; we quote the compliance work inside the offer rather than as an extra.

California questions
Are you insured to work inside our California facility?
Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to California. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
Can you work nights, weekends or during a shutdown in California?
Regularly. Most electrical removals happen outside production hours because that is when circuits can be released. Night, weekend, holiday and turnaround windows in California are normal scheduling for us, not a premium service.
What happens to the equipment after you buy it?
Serviceable gear is tested, reconditioned where needed and resold as replacement equipment — that resale is what funds your offer. What cannot go back into service is dismantled for copper, aluminum and steel recovery through permitted processors, with regulated fractions documented.
Do you buy equipment that is still energized and in service?
Yes, and most of what we buy is. We quote it now and remove it on your cutover date. Telling us at the quote stage which California assets are still live lets us build the phasing and the clearance coordination into the schedule from the beginning.
Our electrical room is in a basement with a tight door. Is that a problem?
It is routine. Switchgear sections, transformers and gensets frequently have to be cut down or partially disassembled to clear a door width, an elevator limit or a stair turn. The access survey at your California site establishes the path before we commit to a date, and that cost is already inside the offer.
