Generators: the specification
What we take
Standby and prime-rated sets on skids or in weather-protective enclosures, sub-base double-wall fuel tanks, trailer-mounted mobile sets, paralleling switchgear and the automatic transfer switches that were installed with them. We take sets that run and sets that do not. A non-running set with a good alternator, a rebuildable block and a clean control panel still carries real value.
What sets the number
Hours, engine family and whether the set is emissions-tiered for resale matter most. A low-hour Tier 2 or Tier 3 set with load-bank records prices as running equipment. A high-hour set with a cracked head prices on its alternator, radiator, copper and core value. Send the nameplate, the hour meter reading and the last service record and the number gets sharper immediately.
How we get it out
We disconnect, drain and dispose of fuel and coolant to spec, cut and cap the exhaust and fuel runs, and lift the set with a crane or forklift depending on placement. Roof-mounted and below-grade sets are routine — we plan the pick before the truck rolls.
