Richmond, VA: Generators Purchase and Removal

Generators coming out of a Richmond facility is worth quoting even when it is decades old. Condition, whether the model is still supported and copper content move the number far more than age, and we will tell you honestly whether your units resell into service or price closer to recovered metal.

Generators we buy in Richmond

Our Virginia routing runs along I-95, I-66, I-495, the Dulles Toll Road and I-64, which keeps trailer and crew cost predictable on Richmond projects. Utility territory matters too — Dominion Energy Virginia, Appalachian Power, NOVEC each have their own clearance, metering and disconnect expectations, and we have worked inside them. Northern Virginia construction and data facility work generates switchgear, busway and generator volume, while Hampton Roads shipyards and southern Virginia plant closures add heavy MV equipment.

If the Richmond equipment is still carrying load, we phase it. Usually that means dead sections and spares first, then distribution as circuits are released, then the main line-up once the last feeder is isolated. The phasing goes into the offer so nobody is improvising in an energized room at two in the morning.

What it is worth

Copper is the floor under most of this equipment, and it is a floor that moves. Bus bar, windings and feeder cable set a minimum value we can always pay on a Richmond lot; resale demand for the specific make and model is what lifts the offer above it. Obsolete bus plugs and discontinued panelboard interiors are the clearest example — unglamorous parts that plants cannot buy new anywhere.

Questions

How do you handle transformer oil in Richmond?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in Richmond and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your Richmond dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Richmond equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.

Are you insured to work inside our Richmond facility?

Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to Richmond. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
