Electrical Switchgear: What We Buy and What It Is Worth

What we take

Complete metal-clad medium-voltage line-ups with their vacuum or air-magnetic breakers still racked in, metal-enclosed low-voltage switchboards, drawout switchgear from 480 V through 38 kV, main-tie-main arrangements, individual vertical sections, tie sections, metering and relay cubicles, and the drawout breakers on their own if the structure has already been scrapped. Outdoor walk-in and non-walk-in enclosures are fine — we bring the equipment to lift them.

What sets the number

Voltage class and breaker type drive the number more than age. A medium-voltage line-up with current-production vacuum breakers, readable nameplates and a recent test report prices as reusable equipment because it can be reconditioned and resold. A section with obsolete air-magnetic breakers and a missing nameplate prices closer to its copper bus, steel and salvageable relays. Frame size, interrupting rating, bus ampacity and whether the sections are sequential from one order all move the number up.

How we get it out

Medium-voltage line-ups are bolted, grouted and often cabled from below. We disconnect, cut the cable at the gland, unbolt the sections, skate them out and load them on our own trailers. Structures that cannot fit an exit path get cut into shippable sections on site. Teardown, rigging and freight are ours, not yours.
