What we buy under electrical switchgear buyers
Medium-voltage metal-clad line-ups
Complete 4.16 kV, 13.8 kV and 38 kV metal-clad structures with their vacuum or air-magnetic breakers still racked in, main-tie-main arrangements, incoming line and metering cubicles, relay and protection sections, and outdoor walk-in and non-walk-in enclosures. Current-production vacuum breakers are the single strongest value driver in this category.
Low-voltage switchgear and switchboards
480 V and 600 V drawout switchgear, group-mounted and individually-mounted switchboards, main breaker and main lug sections, distribution sections with feeder breakers, and service-entrance equipment with utility metering. Square D Power-Style, GE AKD, Eaton Magnum and Siemens line-ups all move well.
Breakers, buckets and sections alone
We buy drawout breakers on their own when the structure has already gone to a yard — air-magnetic, vacuum and insulated case, from 225 A frames through 5,000 A. Individual vertical sections, tie sections and spare cubicles are all quotable, and obsolete frames often price better than modern ones.

What the equipment is worth to you
Voltage class and breaker type drive switchgear value more than age. A line-up with current vacuum breakers, legible nameplates and a recent NETA test report prices as reconditionable equipment. The identical structure with obsolete air-magnetic breakers and missing nameplates prices on copper bus, steel and salvageable relays.
Two numbers sit under every offer: what the next owner will pay for a working asset, and what the copper and aluminum are worth if nobody will. We show you both, then subtract our removal cost in the open.
Removal is included, not extra
Our price includes de-energized disassembly, rigging, loading and freight. You are not buying a demolition service from us and then selling us metal separately; it is one transaction with one number.

Questions we get on this desk
What voltage classes do you buy?
480 V through 38 kV as standard work. Higher-voltage station gear is quotable too; it simply needs a rigging plan and sometimes a crane, both of which are priced into the offer.
Do the breakers need to be in the line-up?
It helps a great deal, but no. Breakers are a large share of the value, so a line-up with its breakers intact is worth substantially more than an empty structure — but empty structures still carry bus and steel value, and loose breakers are worth quoting on their own.
Is a NETA test report worth getting before we sell?
If you already have one from the last maintenance cycle, send it — it is the single document that most improves an offer. Paying for new testing purely to sell rarely returns its cost, so we would not recommend it.
Can you cut the sections apart if they will not fit out?
Yes, and it is routine. Grouted, bolted line-ups in basements and interior electrical rooms frequently have to be cut into shippable sections. We plan the exit path on the access survey and the cutting cost is already inside the offer.
Will you buy switchgear that is still energized?
Most of what we buy is. Your electrician or the utility performs final isolation and we verify it before touching anything. We schedule around your outage window, including nights, weekends and phased cutovers.
