Pittsburgh, PA: Generators Purchase and Removal

We purchase generators throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding Pennsylvania market — units still energized and scheduled for replacement, equipment already sitting dead after an upgrade, and lots coming out of a full plant closure. We buy the gear and we do the removal: one company, one offer, one certificate of insurance.

Generators we buy in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh sits in Pennsylvania, where PECO, PPL, Duquesne Light, FirstEnergy feed the load and I-76, I-95, I-80, I-81 and I-476 carry the freight. Both facts land in your number: a site near those corridors costs us less to service and the saving shows up in the offer rather than our margin. Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Allentown and Harrisburg are regular stops, and Pittsburgh work routes with them.

If the Pittsburgh equipment is still carrying load, we phase it. Usually that means dead sections and spares first, then distribution as circuits are released, then the main line-up once the last feeder is isolated. The phasing goes into the offer so nobody is improvising in an energized room at two in the morning.

What it is worth

Transformer oil is the item sellers in Pittsburgh worry about most, and fairly so. We test it, drain it, manifest it through licensed handlers and hand you the documentation. PCB-suspect units are handled under their own waste profile. The cost of that handling is already inside the offer, so nothing surprises you after the fact.

Pennsylvania note

Steel, chemical and rail industry legacy across Pennsylvania left an extraordinary base of older switchgear and busway, and Philadelphia and Pittsburgh building renovations add switchboard and riser work.

Questions

Do we have to disconnect the equipment before you arrive?

No. We handle removal. Your electrician or the utility performs the final isolation and we verify it; from there our crews lock out, cut and cap cable at the gland, unbolt the sections, skate them out and load them. If the Pittsburgh room is still partly live we phase the work.

How do you handle transformer oil in Pittsburgh?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in Pittsburgh and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your Pittsburgh dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Pittsburgh equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.
