Buying electrical equipment in Northridge

Northridge sits in Ohio, where AEP Ohio, FirstEnergy, Duke Energy Ohio, Dayton Power & Light feed the load and I-71, I-75, I-70, I-80 and I-270 carry the freight. Both facts land in your number: a site near those corridors costs us less to service and the saving shows up in the offer rather than our margin. Columbus, New Albany, Dublin, Cleveland and Cincinnati are regular stops, and Northridge work routes with them.

Once an offer is accepted in Northridge we schedule around your outage window, not ours. Nights, weekends and phased removals are normal. Crews arrive with their own rigging, skates, lifts, torches and oil-handling equipment, pull the gear, protect your floors and leave the electrical room clear for the next trade.

What drives the number

Sometimes the equipment value exceeds our removal cost and you receive a check. On older, stripped or badly access-restricted Northridge scopes, the removal cost exceeds the value and the project nets near zero or a modest fee. You hear which one you are looking at up front rather than halfway through the teardown.

Safety and documentation

Nothing leaves a Northridge site undocumented. Nameplate data is recorded as equipment comes out, regulated items like transformer oil and older capacitors are separated under their own profile, and you receive a reconciled report your EHS group can file against the original purchase agreement.

Paper you receive

Certificate of insurance before we mobilize, a written itemized offer, a signed bill of sale, and load documentation for every trailer. If your compliance team needs something specific, ask before we schedule.

Northridge questions

What is the smallest job you will take in Northridge?

A single transformer, one switchgear section, a pallet of bus plugs or a few boxes of breakers is worth a call. Because we route crews across Ohio continuously, small Northridge pickups usually get added to an existing run rather than priced as a dedicated trip.

How fast can you get to a Northridge site?

Written offers go out the same business day in nearly every case. After acceptance, typical mobilization to Northridge is a few business days for a straightforward removal and one to two weeks for a full plant scope that needs phasing, rigging plans or utility coordination.

Do we have to disconnect the equipment before you arrive?

No. We handle removal. Your electrician or the utility performs the final isolation and we verify it; from there our crews lock out, cut and cap cable at the gland, unbolt the sections, skate them out and load them. If the Northridge room is still partly live we phase the work.

How do you handle transformer oil in Northridge?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in Northridge and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your Northridge dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Northridge equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.
