Obetz, OH: Industrial Electrical Equipment Bought and Removed
We work with Obetz plant managers, facility directors, electrical contractors, demolition contractors and utility engineers on the same footing: tell us what is there, we send back a number and a removal plan. Sites with escort requirements, hot work permitting or classified areas are routine rather than exceptional.

Buying electrical equipment in Obetz
Coverage in Obetz is run off our Ohio routing along I-71, I-75, I-70, I-80 and I-270. Coordination with AEP Ohio, FirstEnergy, Duke Energy Ohio, Dayton Power & Light on clearances, metering removal and final disconnect is part of the scope, not a change order. Ohio's steel, glass, rubber and automotive base created a deep installed inventory of General Electric and Westinghouse switchgear and busway, and the state's freight position makes consolidation efficient.
Once an offer is accepted in Obetz we schedule around your outage window, not ours. Nights, weekends and phased removals are normal. Crews arrive with their own rigging, skates, lifts, torches and oil-handling equipment, pull the gear, protect your floors and leave the electrical room clear for the next trade.

What drives the number
Copper is the floor under most of this equipment, and it is a floor that moves. Bus bar, windings and feeder cable set a minimum value we can always pay on a Obetz lot; resale demand for the specific make and model is what lifts the offer above it. Obsolete bus plugs and discontinued panelboard interiors are the clearest example — unglamorous parts that plants cannot buy new anywhere.

Safety and documentation
Safety is scope, not a brochure page. Crews working in Obetz operate to NFPA 70E for arc-flash boundaries and PPE, follow OSHA 1910.147 lockout and tagout with our own locks and written procedures, and hold a daily job safety analysis before the first bolt turns. We do not energize, test or operate your equipment — isolation is verified with your electrician before we touch anything.
Paper you receive
Certificate of insurance before we mobilize, a written itemized offer, a signed bill of sale, and load documentation for every trailer. If your compliance team needs something specific, ask before we schedule.

Obetz questions
What if the equipment is old or has no test records?
We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Obetz equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.
Are you insured to work inside our Obetz facility?
Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to Obetz. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
Can you work nights, weekends or during a shutdown in Obetz?
Regularly. Most electrical removals happen outside production hours because that is when circuits can be released. Night, weekend, holiday and turnaround windows in Obetz are normal scheduling for us, not a premium service.
What happens to the equipment after you buy it?
Serviceable gear is tested, reconditioned where needed and resold as replacement equipment — that resale is what funds your offer. What cannot go back into service is dismantled for copper, aluminum and steel recovery through permitted processors, with regulated fractions documented.
Do you buy equipment that is still energized and in service?
Yes, and most of what we buy is. We quote it now and remove it on your cutover date. Telling us at the quote stage which Obetz assets are still live lets us build the phasing and the clearance coordination into the schedule from the beginning.
Our electrical room is in a basement with a tight door. Is that a problem?
It is routine. Switchgear sections, transformers and gensets frequently have to be cut down or partially disassembled to clear a door width, an elevator limit or a stair turn. The access survey at your Obetz site establishes the path before we commit to a date, and that cost is already inside the offer.
