Opelousas, LA: Industrial Electrical Equipment Bought and Removed

We work with Opelousas plant managers, facility directors, electrical contractors, demolition contractors and utility engineers on the same footing: tell us what is there, we send back a number and a removal plan. Sites with escort requirements, hot work permitting or classified areas are routine rather than exceptional.

Buying electrical equipment in Opelousas

Our Louisiana routing runs along I-10, I-12, I-20 and I-49, which keeps trailer and crew cost predictable on Opelousas projects. Utility territory matters too — Entergy Louisiana, Cleco, SWEPCO each have their own clearance, metering and disconnect expectations, and we have worked inside them. Gulf Coast petrochemical turnarounds are the dominant source of medium-voltage switchgear, MV MCCs and large rectifier transformers in the state, and hot-work permitting is standard on our crews' scope.

Paperwork travels with the job: a certificate of insurance naming your entity, a W-9, a signed purchase agreement listing every asset and its price, oil test and disposal manifests where transformers are in scope, and weight tickets or a bill of lading for what leaves the Opelousas site. Maintenance, EHS and accounting each get the document they need.

Plate 03

What drives the number

Three things drive the number: condition, whether the equipment is still supported, and copper content. A medium-voltage line-up with current vacuum breakers and a recent test report prices as reusable equipment. An identical structure with obsolete air-magnetic breakers and no nameplate prices on its bus and steel. We tell you which bucket your Opelousas gear falls into before you commit to anything.

Safety and documentation

If your Opelousas facility runs permits — hot work, confined space, elevated work, site orientation, background checks — tell us at the quote stage and we build the time into the schedule rather than asking for an extension later. Our people are used to refinery, hospital and utility permitting cultures.

Paper you receive

Certificate of insurance before we mobilize, a written itemized offer, a signed bill of sale, and load documentation for every trailer. If your compliance team needs something specific, ask before we schedule.

Opelousas questions

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Opelousas equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.

Are you insured to work inside our Opelousas facility?

Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to Opelousas. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.

Can you work nights, weekends or during a shutdown in Opelousas?

Regularly. Most electrical removals happen outside production hours because that is when circuits can be released. Night, weekend, holiday and turnaround windows in Opelousas are normal scheduling for us, not a premium service.

What happens to the equipment after you buy it?

Serviceable gear is tested, reconditioned where needed and resold as replacement equipment — that resale is what funds your offer. What cannot go back into service is dismantled for copper, aluminum and steel recovery through permitted processors, with regulated fractions documented.

Do you buy equipment that is still energized and in service?

Yes, and most of what we buy is. We quote it now and remove it on your cutover date. Telling us at the quote stage which Opelousas assets are still live lets us build the phasing and the clearance coordination into the schedule from the beginning.

Our electrical room is in a basement with a tight door. Is that a problem?

It is routine. Switchgear sections, transformers and gensets frequently have to be cut down or partially disassembled to clear a door width, an elevator limit or a stair turn. The access survey at your Opelousas site establishes the path before we commit to a date, and that cost is already inside the offer.
