What we take out of Preakness sites
Distribution and control equipment
Low- and medium-voltage switchgear and switchboards, motor control centers, panelboards, bus duct with its plugs, transfer switches, capacitor banks and the breakers that live inside all of it. This is the bulk of what moves through our yard, and it is where obsolete models are frequently worth more than current production because nobody else can supply them.
Power conversion and generation
Liquid-filled and dry-type transformers from 75 kVA to 50 MVA, unit substations, rectifier and furnace transformers, and diesel and gas gensets from 100 kW to 3 MW with or without their paralleling gear and transfer switches. Running or not — we price a seized engine on its alternator and core just as seriously as a low-hour set.

Preakness questions
Are you insured to work inside our Preakness facility?
Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to Preakness. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
Can you work nights, weekends or during a shutdown in Preakness?
Regularly. Most electrical removals happen outside production hours because that is when circuits can be released. Night, weekend, holiday and turnaround windows in Preakness are normal scheduling for us, not a premium service.
What happens to the equipment after you buy it?
Serviceable gear is tested, reconditioned where needed and resold as replacement equipment — that resale is what funds your offer. What cannot go back into service is dismantled for copper, aluminum and steel recovery through permitted processors, with regulated fractions documented.
Do you buy equipment that is still energized and in service?
Yes, and most of what we buy is. We quote it now and remove it on your cutover date. Telling us at the quote stage which Preakness assets are still live lets us build the phasing and the clearance coordination into the schedule from the beginning.
Our electrical room is in a basement with a tight door. Is that a problem?
It is routine. Switchgear sections, transformers and gensets frequently have to be cut down or partially disassembled to clear a door width, an elevator limit or a stair turn. The access survey at your Preakness site establishes the path before we commit to a date, and that cost is already inside the offer.
