Transformers buyers serving La Crescent

Iron Range mining, food processing and medical device manufacturing produce portable substations, MV cable and clean MCC line-ups; winter schedules are normal work for us. For La Crescent specifically that density helps: crews already move through Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chaska and Rochester, so mobilization is a scheduling question rather than a cost problem.

If the La Crescent equipment is still carrying load we phase it — dead sections and spares first, distribution as circuits are released, the main line-up on the final clearance. The phasing is written into the offer so nobody improvises in an energized room at two in the morning.

What we take out of La Crescent sites

Liquid-filled pad-mount and station class

Oil-filled pad-mount and pole-mount units, loop-feed and radial, unit substations with their primary switching and secondary sections, and station-class power transformers with tap changers, radiators and conservators. Oil is tested for PCB content before anything moves, and the manifests come with your paperwork.

Dry-type and cast coil

Ventilated dry-type and cast-coil units from 15 kVA through 5 MVA, including 480 V to 208 V step-downs, K-rated units specified for harmonic loads, and drive isolation transformers. Dry-types move easily, resell quickly and generally carry a strong number relative to their weight.

La Crescent questions

Do we have to disconnect the equipment before you arrive?

No. We handle removal. Your electrician or the utility performs the final isolation and we verify it; from there our crews lock out, cut and cap cable at the gland, unbolt the sections, skate them out and load them. If the La Crescent room is still partly live we phase the work.

How do you handle transformer oil in La Crescent?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in La Crescent and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your La Crescent dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price La Crescent equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.

Are you insured to work inside our La Crescent facility?

Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to La Crescent. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
