San Jose, CA: Substations Purchase and Removal

We purchase substations throughout San Jose and the surrounding California market — units still energized and scheduled for replacement, equipment already sitting dead after an upgrade, and lots coming out of a full plant closure. We buy the gear and we do the removal: one company, one offer, one certificate of insurance.

Substations we buy in San Jose

Title 24 upgrades, refinery turnarounds in the Bay Area and Los Angeles basin, and aggressive PCB and oil handling rules under DTSC make California removals documentation-heavy; we quote the compliance work inside the offer rather than as an extra. For San Jose specifically, that density helps: crews already move through Santa Clara, San Jose, Los Angeles, Sacramento and San Diego, so mobilization is a scheduling question rather than a cost problem.

For San Jose sites we quote two ways when it helps: a single number for the scope as it stands, and a line-by-line itemization showing what the switchgear, the transformers, the busway and the cable each contribute. Some teams need the lump sum to move an approval; others need the detail for their asset records. You can have both.

What it is worth

We do not quote high and renegotiate on the dock, which is the complaint we hear most often about this trade. If what our crew finds in San Jose matches what you described, the written price is the price we pay. If it does not — breakers already pulled, windings cut, a different model than the photo — we show you exactly which line changed and why.

Questions

How do you handle transformer oil in San Jose?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in San Jose and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your San Jose dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price San Jose equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.

Are you insured to work inside our San Jose facility?

Yes. We carry general liability, auto, workers' compensation and umbrella coverage, and we issue a certificate naming your entity as additional insured before crews mobilize to San Jose. We also complete vendor onboarding, background checks and site-specific safety orientation on request.
