Indianapolis, IN: Transformers Purchase and Removal

We purchase transformers throughout Indianapolis and the surrounding Indiana market — units still energized and scheduled for replacement, equipment already sitting dead after an upgrade, and lots coming out of a full plant closure. We buy the gear and we do the removal: one company, one offer, one certificate of insurance.

Transformers we buy in Indianapolis

Steel mills in the Calumet region and automotive plants across central Indiana run some of the heaviest MV switchgear and furnace transformer installations in the country. For Indianapolis specifically, that density helps: crews already move through Indianapolis, Fort Wayne and Evansville, so mobilization is a scheduling question rather than a cost problem.

For Indianapolis sites we quote two ways when it helps: a single number for the scope as it stands, and a line-by-line itemization showing what the switchgear, the transformers, the busway and the cable each contribute. Some teams need the lump sum to move an approval; others need the detail for their asset records. You can have both.

What it is worth

Transformer oil is the item sellers in Indianapolis worry about most, and fairly so. We test it, drain it, manifest it through licensed handlers and hand you the documentation. PCB-suspect units are handled under their own waste profile. The cost of that handling is already inside the offer, so nothing surprises you after the fact.

Questions

Do we have to disconnect the equipment before you arrive?

No. We handle removal. Your electrician or the utility performs the final isolation and we verify it; from there our crews lock out, cut and cap cable at the gland, unbolt the sections, skate them out and load them. If the Indianapolis room is still partly live we phase the work.

How do you handle transformer oil in Indianapolis?

Oil is tested, drained and manifested through licensed handlers, and you receive the documentation with your paperwork. PCB-suspect units go under a separate waste profile. Nothing is left on your pad in Indianapolis and nothing gets dumped — the handling cost is already in the offer.

When do we get paid?

Before the equipment leaves your Indianapolis dock. Wire, company check or cashier's check, whichever your accounting group prefers. On large phased projects we pay per load as it ships rather than holding everything until the end.

What if the equipment is old or has no test records?

We still quote it. Records raise the number — a NETA test report on a breaker or a transformer is the single document that most improves what we can pay — but their absence disqualifies nothing. We price Indianapolis equipment on what our technicians and the replacement market say it is worth.
